Vote For DeVelle Jackson

My Bio

I am running for Congress because I believe our representative should answer first to the people of Minnesota's Fifth District, not to a political party. Too often, our politics rewards loyalty to party leadership over independent judgment, and the people are left choosing between competing partisan agendas instead of receiving the representation they deserve.

I chose to run as an Independent because I want the freedom to evaluate every bill, every amendment, and every vote on its merits. Good ideas do not belong to one party, and bad ideas should not be defended simply because they come from your own side. My responsibility should be to the Constitution, to the people I represent, and to the long-term interests of our country.

I believe our political system has reached a point where too many Americans feel unheard, politically homeless, or pressured to vote against someone instead of for someone. I want to demonstrate that there is another path, one that values constitutional government, accountability, practical problem-solving, and respect for differing viewpoints without requiring blind allegiance to a party.

This campaign is about restoring confidence that public office belongs to the people. I want to show that an elected official can be principled without being partisan, collaborative without being controlled, and willing to work with anyone to achieve good outcomes for Minnesota. My goal is not to protest the system, but to serve within it honorably, strengthen it where it is weak, and ensure that the people of the Fifth District always come before party interests.

My Key Issues

Privacy & Data Rights

Privacy is the protected sphere of the person. It covers our bodies, homes, communications, movements, decisions, personal information, and the parts of life that government, corporations, and technology should not enter without lawful authority or meaningful consent.

The Constitution protects the people in their “persons, houses, papers, and effects,” and protects the liberty of the person in the most private decisions of life. Today, our papers include emails, cloud files, search histories, purchase records, location trails, and digital profiles. Constitutional protections must follow the person into the digital age. Congress must give those protections full force through clear and comprehensive federal law.

Personal information is now collected almost everywhere. Companies track what we buy, where we go, what we watch, what we search, how we behave online, and even how we move through stores. That information is sold, combined, used to target and manipulate consumers, and fed into systems people cannot meaningfully inspect or control. Faces, voices, fingerprints, location histories, and other biometric information are not ordinary commercial property. They are part of the person.

I will fight for a comprehensive federal privacy and data-rights law that makes privacy the default and gives individuals control over the collection, use, sale, and retention of their information.
